The Hana Beppu is a modern take on a traditional ryokan. It has ample parking if you need it and it is one block away from the train station. Despite being so close to a train station, it is in a quiet residential part of the city with a great park nearby. The Hana Beppu creates a very comfortable environment from the minute you enter. The staff were super attentive, warm, genuine and were excited to have some international guests. They made us feel very welcome and at home. The room had a traditional feel, but was spacious and had beds versus futons. They even have a pillow center where you can pick out a pillow that meets your needs. We opted for the breakfast deal and we ate tasty and traditional Japanese breakfast. There were no Western breakfast options offered, but that did not bother us and we did not ask for any. The hot bath facilities were large with an indoor and outdoor bath. For us, it was worth the splurge to stay in a place of this price range. The people there and the building itself will set you up for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. I highly recommend this hotel for a cozy getaway to Beppu.

This ryokan is beautifully decorated. I hired a yukata and took some gorgeous photos wearing it with the great bamboo decor. The room was very spacious for Japan and had a great view of the mountains from our balcony. The dinner and breakfast were delicious. The onsen followed by a massage was pure indulgence. The staff were very friendly and speaks English well. The ryokan was a short walking distance from the train station. We had a fabulous stay and highly recommended.

Breakfast was excellent with special rice mentaiko and raw egg that I tried for the first time. Their kobosu honey and apple juice was amazing. I love the vibe of the space. Newly renovated 13 years ago with a bamboo theme. The rooms don't look aged at all. And the surrounding are comfortable and beautiful. Brought my parents and they enjoyed it. The omakase dinner was great also. Staff are wonderful

Plenty of details customer-oriented (e.g. traditional Japanese clothing, fresh yuzu juice every day in the room, matcha corner, free cofee 24h per day, private onsen for families, Japanese breakfast). A full Japanese experience (shoes to be removed upon arrival and not allowed inside).
